I heard that Robert Wagner is planning a new book, one to share more about the women in his life. If he is writing such a book, I don't know what it could offer beyond what he already told in "Pieces of My Heart."
I don't know what would be of interest beyond his marriage to Natalie, and I can't understand why he thinks it would be important to let the world know about the women he has had relationships with. I wonder what he would say this time around about Elizabeth Taylor, who has talked about the men in her life and never once mentioned Wagner! What I'm wondering most of all is if, this time around, the media would demand more from him since the release of GNGS than they did before GNGS. Will the media let him promote a book without answering some of the information in GNGS? I would hope not!

What would happen is that he would insist he be asked nothing about GNGS or else refuse the interview. He's been calling the shots for far too long.
ReplyDeleteMarti, I'm all for the sign-in. I usually posted anonymously as it was easier, but I don't mind using my follower SN. I think it would be disgusting if Wagner uses the women in his life, again, to feed us more lies about his relationships. He really must have a dumb and dumber following if he pulls this one off. Your friend L
ReplyDeleteIn book promos for Pieces he obviously got a look at what would he asked of him and that would be the same for his new fable. An agreement will be made before hand that the topic of GNGS not be brought up. He does not want to go there.
ReplyDeleteThe women in his life? LOL More tales of women who are dead or too sick to care what he alleges about them? What could he say beyond what he said in his book? Most of it was fabricated.
This man seriously needs to get his ego examined.
ReplyDeleteI have a better idea: I'll write a book about the pimples I've had in my life. I promise I'll show more sympathy towards zits than Wagner does wives/lovers.

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't put it past Wagner to do this. Especially since some of these women have passed on - he can say what he wants and they aren't around to dispute what he says.
It's appalling how he exploits his "connections" to these people and kisses the butt of old Hollywood so he'll be considered one of the greats.
He's been kissing the butt of old Hollywood for years. Everyone was "wonderful". He such a phony.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he needs money? He's 81, he recently "wrote" the story of his life, he filled in the gaps in which there were no women in his life with secret affairs which gave his middle aged female fan base what they wanted to hear. That book took him 4 years to write. How long will this one take?
How Wagner goes on talk shows and is never asked about what has been written in GNGS bewilders me.
ReplyDeleteYou and me both, Kevin. I sometimes feel as if by the word "celebrity" alone a person gains credibility that does not actually exist. The favors extended to celebrity is a vicious circle...the shows need "celebrity" to draw an audience, so they offer the appearing celebs whatever they want....even the favor of not being asked why you deliberately chose to not rescue a wife lost in the ocean. The media must take their share of blame in letting this travesty of justice to fester, too!
ReplyDeleteIn all likelihood his PR people submit a list of topics that will not be brought up, undoubtedly, GNGS would he among them.
ReplyDeleteFor years he made it known that would not talk about Natalie's death in any type of interview so he was not asked.
In his interviews for his book, promo the questions were obviously prearranged and answers were rehearsed. You can tell because there were no "UMS" and "AHS". When he is not prepared he falls all over himself when asked about anything to do with Natalie's death.
He must have been asked on a few occasions because his PR people issued the response that he has no comment.
ReplyDeleteRoz, and you would think a person who has nothing to hide would want to defend his own name...especially one who wants to be remembered as the "legendary great" he is definitely not.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is rather odd for a person who is totally innocent to say NOTHING to defend his name.
ReplyDeleteI recall that he said nothing with Finstad's book also. It seems that he does not want to raise any questions about the last time he saw Natalie. He did answer the allegation that Natalie found him in a sexual situation with a man. He denied that through his PR people. He'd rather take the chance of being remembered as a murderer than be remembered as bi-sexual.
My hope is that when the petition gets presented to the proper authorities it will generate some media attention. At that point I think the questions at Wagner will fly fast and furious.
ReplyDeleteCreed,
ReplyDeleteI hope the questions will fly fast and furious for the LA County Sheriff's department also!
When Elizabeth Taylor passed away last week, I couldn't help but wonder what information Wagner's obituary would include. I really don't think he would get the coverage Liz warranted, or maybe he would being he was married to Natalie twice, but I wonder if THEN something might be said about the Nov. 1981 "mystery" -- I would love to see him asked questions NOW, rather than talked about later.
I'm sure the topic will be raised, no doubt in my mind. Natalie's death was the single biggest media story in his life, the second being their re-marriage in 1972. What else is there? His film career was minor, he TV career being more successful.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way that he will receive any where near the coverage Elizabeth Taylor has.
There have been many occasions when an interviewer has asked a question or two outside of those on the list. However, time and again the subject of GNGS is completely ignored in Wagner's case.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it has something to do with his age?
ReplyDeleteI don't think RJ will get much media coverage at all when his number's up. I think he'll get a mention on some celebrity tabloid show, but I think the actual news will report it as "the former husband of Natalie Wood."
ReplyDeleteI didn't read "Pieces of My Heart" and I have no interest in another book from Wagner, not unless he's going to be truthful about what happened the night Natalie left this world and tell all.
I certainly hope the petition does some good. I hope the case is reopened. Natalie deserves that. Anyone would. Thank you, Marti and Dennis for giving Natalie a voice.
Wagner's narcissistic delusions continue. Who does he think cares? The members of his little entourage, delusional in their own way? However, I have to believe that he will get what is coming to him.
ReplyDeleteGosh, yes, it makes one wonder doesn't it. I could make for an interesting read though.
ReplyDeleteI love Natalie Wood - she was fabulous in Gypsy Rose Lee, it was one of the first "grown up" films I saw as a child and I remember being in shock at the sight of her appearing on stage as a stripper! How times have changed!

I wonder why he feels the need to write another book so soon after his auto-biography. He already wrote about his alleged love affairs. Maybe he will sing the "we loved each other so much" song as a means of indirectly answering GNGS. It does not make sense to write another memoir so soon after his last one. People who do two memoirs do so with 20 or so years in between, not 3 years. Most of his previous book was comprised of blatant lies.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he's concerned at the number of people Marti and Dennis are reaching with GNGS. When I first heard of the book, I didn't believe Wagner could be involved. I, too, was "suckered into" the "he loved her too much" myth to believe. But then I read GNGS, and I read it again and again. It makes far too much sense to dismiss, and now I'm a believer in Marti and Dennis and I applaud their courage and tenacity in bringing us the real story. I only hope the case will be reopened so the other two men aboard that night will have to "come clean." There is just no way Wagner cannot be involved. Dennis saw Natalie on the back deck without her jacket, and then he didn't see her at all. One adjust the dinghy from on deck. Well, you know the details. The facts speak for themselves. It's a shame Wagner has never had to answer for anything at all.
ReplyDeleteGabrielle,
ReplyDeleteAt the time of Natalie's death, I was a huge Wagner fan. My friend worked for him, I watched him in Hart to Hart, and I LIKED him! I loved Natalie and asked many questions about her and about the Wagners as a couple, and I thought Dennis was living a dream (so did he!).
As much as I thought it had to be pure accident, I had my doubts from the onset about Natalie's death. By the time I spoke with Dennis, a full month later, I was sure there was something suspicious because Dennis OFFERED no info... I didn't ask, but he offered NOTHING: that was MY red flag! Dennis would have said something to me. When I said to him how sorry I was for the entire tragedy, he thanked me, but did NOT say it was an accident...he did NOT say he had no idea what happened...it was what he did NOT say that made me realize I admired Wagner out of context! I admired an actor... and then, I wanted to know more...much more...about the man. I immediately suspected "the husband" and Dennis's silence enforced that suspicion for me.
Thank you for your understanding, Marti. I used to watch "Hart to Hart" and I liked Wagner and Powers in the show. I never thought much about Wagner out of the role of Jonathan Hart. I had seen most of Natalie's movies and I absolutely adored her. Wanted to be just like her. She was so graceful and ladylike. I just assumed Natalie and RJ had a "dream" marriage. I'd heard rumors of things not being "right" regarding Natalie's death, and I finally read GNGS and everything was crystal clear to me. Initially, I felt disappointed with Wagner, then I just felt angry, and I keep getting angrier and angrier about all the injustice that surrounds this case. I can well understand why Dennis didn't speak up immediately. He was very young, and he was really under Wagner's thumb. He was scared. Natalie has a voice now, and will always have a voice, thanks to you and thanks to Dennis. You are both really special people.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Gabrielle.

ReplyDeleteWell, I would be more interested in the men in his life, which he glossed over with the exception of his dad.
ReplyDeleteI remember watching an award show in the mid-80s honoring Gene Kelly. Wagner introduced him and when Kelly arrived onstage, Wagner planted a kiss right on his lips. Much to Kelly's embarrassment, I might add.
In his book, Wagner's account was often gratuitous especially when describing David Niven's "frozen cock" or OK Freddy who hauled out his overly large penis on demand.
To me, Wagner tried too hard to be completely "straight." His story of his first sexual encounter allegedly at the age of 12 was over the top. Not only did he have a girl throwing herself at him but all of her friends as well. Did he really expect us to believe that pre-teen girls in 1942 were more sexual than they were 40 years later in my day? Nice try.
