  1. Marti-
If television is too cowardly to take on this matter, what about approaching the print media?
People, Us, even the Enquirer to get the truth your book brought to light out there?
I would also like to let you know that I emailed Harvey Levin about your book, (he answers questions for his TMZ show via the internet)the findings and what he thought of the case. Nothing.
Wagner is not Tom Cruise or Tom Hanks. He never won an Oscar or even came close to being nominated for one.
His power, certainly at this stage of the game, must be limited.
Do you think people outside of entertainment are taking part in what I can only call a conspiracy of silence?
A lot of time, money and who knows what have been spent on trying to keep brave souls like you from bringing the truth to light.
Thank you for giving Natalie a voice and those of us who truly care about her a place to come and share!

  2. My publisher (Phoenix) has a new program going at their website that will start next week: author blogs. I will keep this one, but definitely will participate at the publisher's website, too.
This book was written for Natalie. I am ashamed of the media for ignoring her at this point. I am also grateful to media who haven't ignored her...several good newspapers, Woman's Day magazine, National Enquirer, Inside Edition, Cindy Adams, and several more, and more is in the works. I also am ever so grateful to Ann Rule for recommending Goodbye Natalie Goodbye Splendour at her website. For the other medias: I guess Jon and Kate need their time.

  3. I think Wagner's lawyers have been sending out notification and threats. Wagner is not happy about this book or any book that may be written about Natalie's death that reveals the truth about what happened that night. He is stewing over this book. One thing his lawyers cannot control is the Web. We need to plaster the book all over the Web!.

  4. Rayna, just curious. What makes you state that Wagner's attorneys have been sending communications regarding GNGS? Have you seen any such letter? Or are you just speculating?

  5. Rayna, I noticed that you said you "think" that's what Wagner's attorneys might do and I agree that anything is possible.
Yes, Natalie needs her fans. For readers concerned about the lack of justice the truth about her death is receiving, just as her case received no justice, please, anywhere on the Internet, mention what you've learned about her death. Tell a friend. They will tell two others and so forth. Natalie's truth deserved to be recognized by the law. I hope one day it will be.

  6. Marti,
I am curious to know if any of Natalie's closest friends have read your book and contacted you ?

Also, was your interview with Geraldo aired ?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Not one of Natalie's friends have contacted me, unless it was anonymously. We have not interviewed with Geraldo yet. I've heard his interest is still strong, but several circumstances have factored into the timing. We hope to be able to talk with Geraldo in the near future.

  8. Marti.... When the autopsy describes what Natalie was wearing, does it state she only had one earring?

  9. No, there was no earring involved as far as I know. It's possible she had already removed them before her husband went to the master stateroom. The one was found later in the corner of the stateroom (why authorities hadn't inspected that thoroughly is mindboggling) and that is the only earring Dennis can account for. Roger Smith, the Coast Guard Lieutenant removed her jewelry. I will ask him if he specifically recalls. After all, depending upon official records doesn't seem to always be accurate (Pam Eaker's report --the first authority on the scene, wrote in her report that help was call for immediately to try to rescue Natalie. It was never corrected!)

  10. Thanks Marti... Could you ask Dennis why, if the problem was with Wagner's jealously of Walken, why Natalie would leave the two alone...

  11. I already have asked Dennis, many times. Natalie was so upset on Friday night that she was afraid if she didn't leave the boat that RJ WOULD move the boat up the coast in the dark and rain. She hated having to leave Walken with RJ, but she she thought it would be okay as Walken was already in his cabin for the night. She had planned on apologizing to Christopher in the morning and then flying home from the island. She did not WANT to leave Chris with RJ, she felt she had no choice. That's how outrageous RJ's behavior was on FRIDAY night! Natalie was angry and frightened and shocked at RJ's behavior and she told Dennis so.

  12. Marti, I just finished your book and it was easier to read during the day. At night it gave me nightmares. I understand how it feels to be haunted by this case. Although I remember Natalie's death, I hadn't heard any details before your book. I have always assumed it was a sad accident, and thought of Robert Wagner as a mild-mannered, basically third rate actor. Now he is so sinister it is positively creepy. Who knows how much of his "power" was real and what was an act (or paid for, like bodyguards). The saddest part of all is that (it appears) if any one of the officials had investigated, all of the lies in the case would have fallen like a house of cards. They were all easily researched. (For instance, if all the individuals who received threats turned those threats over to the police.)

And why did Natalie go back on Saturday? It's so outrageous that her sense of self-preservation didn't kick in if she was that scared the night before!

But most of all, Robert Wagner's "power" is so incomprehensible to me. In my opinion, he is a milquetoast, barely B tv actor! Did he make strategic production investments in Hollywood? I just don't get how anyone would listen to, or be afraid of, a wimpy little inconsequential wannabe like Wagner! (How appropriate that he was cast as Number 2 in the Austin Powers films!) It HAD to be an act!! Why didn't Christopher Walken just knock Wagner out and leave? Is it correct that the only lies Walken told were saying that they had a wonderful time, and denying the fight happened (up to and including the broken bottle)? And he did this WHY? I can appreciate that he would want no part of this drama, but someone was dead! Were people that afraid of publicity back in the early 80s? I know he lied, but I don't understand why.

So much of this makes no sense and my heart breaks for Natalie and her daughters.

  13. Carolyn,
I wish I could have explained in Goodbye Natalie the reasons for all the things you perceptively ask. Why has her husband been given the biggest pass in Hollywood history? It has baffled me for decades and will until the day I die. The senseless choices made by everyone involved the weekend Natalie died are mindboggling. Why did Walken stay quiet? It's a business of self preservation. The next gig takes priority. Why does he remain silent? I wouldn't know how someone could live with that.
I'm ashamed of the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, and ashamed of the media, and ashamed of Natalie's friends. Natalie deserves so much better.

  14. Was the swim step metal or wood? I see it in one picture in your book but not in another. Was it removable? Why was Dennis so sure there was no algae?

    ReplyDelete
  15. The swim step was wood. It was not removable (of course it could be removed for repair work, etc, but it was a stationary swim step). There was no algae because Splendour had cruised to Catalina Island at fast speed. Dennis says when the boat moved for that many hours at that speed, the ocean cleans the swim step like a car through a car wash.

  16. I am still a huge fan of Christopher Walken's work; I will watch anything with him in it (Kangaroo Jack?!) and he is famous enough and (appears) stable enough, what does he have to lose by telling the truth?! Why does he remain silent? He should just MAN UP! It's been nearly three decades!! I hope he reads these posts and finds it in himself to do the right thing by Natalie. As you say, she deserves SO much better. How sad and shameful that no one in a position to do so has done the right thing. And most of all, thank you for writing this book. It means a lot.

  17. Finstad's book says Natalie was wearing Mukluk's; you call them wool socks... You did your recreation with wool socks, do you think Mukluk's would have the same result?

  18. What makes Dennis so sure RJ put the jacket on Natalie?
