Natalie Wood thought about Worldwide

Sunday evening, I did a live interview with a New Zealand radio show (posted on left sidebar) and tomorrow I will interview for an hour with a TV Network from France (will provide details and link when available). Japan and Europe Networks are in the works. The world wants to know about Natalie. In my interview with New Zealand it was a pleasure to get to name some of Natalie's classic movies. She was so adored around the world.

  1. I think after Dennis witnessed the horrific events on the boat, the fears he had that RJ was trying to get him drunk after NW went missing, perhaps to make him go 'missing' too, the extremely traumatizing loss of NW whom he greatly admired, thoughts of the children, etc etc etc--I think he was suffering from undiagnosed PTSD for a very long time and on top of that felt his life was threatened. What a completely disorienting situation--and one that literally turned his life to that point upside down.

I don't think people who haven't been through so grave and complex a trauma such as this can imagine the devastation and havoc it wrecks on a person--mind, body and soul. RJ being more of an 'actor' in the literal sense, plus having the support of the Hollywood community, and being a more self-serving individual with the responsibility of holding it together for his children and TV show...plus starting to date Jill St John 2 months later--had so much greater control.

Dennis was like someone suffering from the Stockholm Syndrome.

  2. French Heart,

Thank you for your comment. I totally agree with you. Dennis was a completely different person in the aftermath of Natalie's death, an extremely changed personality...from vibrant to depressed, instantly. I talked with him a lot after Natalie died, but I first saw him one year after Natalie's death and it was as if seeing a person I had never known: his physical appearance had suffered as well. Ironically, after three days in the company of family and friends, the Dennis we had all known began to emerge, and it was then I knew there something literally eating him alive. I also sensed he would eventually tell me, but that took almost another year. He kept saying he needed to get out of L.A. He wanted to put the entire tragedy behind him, while knowing it would follow him forever.

  3. My sister was killed in a plane crash the same day Natalie died.
She was 31 and was with her boyfriend (whose name was also... Robert) when she died.
Natalie Wood was Jann's favorite actress, she absolutely adored her. I remember well when Nat died and how I felt from the very beginning that Wagner was the cause of her departure. There was never any doubt in my mind. Dennis has finally set loose these horrible memories and hopefully can begin to heal.
Jann came to me that night ... after she died.
I wonder if Nat ever paid Dennis a visit.
